What does Copacabana bring to mind for you? A fruit hat and ruffled sleeves? Yellow feathers and a dress cut down to there? A cigar and a Sarah Vaughn LP? (A shmoke and a pancake?)

Wilmonites is pleased to report on a Copacabana-themed event, and other goings on in Wilmo.

JUNE 17 AND BEYOND -- Wilmington After Work
It's DJ Wednesdays at Deep Blue!  Catch Zip and his crackling vinyl sounds on June 17th, and more Wednesdays this summer.  (Skinny White jumps behind the decks on June 10th due to a Zip appearance at Pat's MVP.)   WAW is a weekly multi-restaurant happy hour, offering $5-4-3-2 specials from 5-7pm.  Visit www.wilmingtonafterwork.com for details.

JUNE 20 - SATURDAY NIGHT SUPPER CLUB - COPACABANA THEME.

Copacabana (often referred to as The Copa) was a famous NYC nightclub during the Supper Club era. Breakout star debuts at The Copa were common, and even today, The Copa is an icon, with films like Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Tootsie and Carlito's Way, not to mention the famous Manilow tune, set there.

In June, we bring the Copacabana to you. We invite you to dine, tipple and Rumba with us. It's Saturday Night Supper Club.

SNSC is a monthly event/all-in-one destination (cocktails, dinner and dancing) for a night on the town. If you join us for dinner, the $35 prix fixe menu gets you 3 courses + complimentary glass of bubbly; seatings begin at 7pm.

If you stay for the dance party: retro drink specials (think Tom Collins/Mai Tai style) all night long; upscale DJ entertainment by Wilmington's own DJ Zip; music begins at 10pm. (No cover.) Dress is retro or sexy with monthly retro-attire themes. June 20th theme is Copacabana (feel free to be creative!). Valet available.

Third Saturday of every month at Deep Blue, 111 W. 11th Street, Wilmington. 302-777-2040. www.deepbluebarandgrill.com
